Listening to:Something Corporate, "I Woke Up In A Car" Not doing:orgo prelab, cell bio research, orgo studying Playlist In lieu of boring orgo and other work, I'll instead write a list of random songs I've been listening to a lot recently -- I don't know why I like them, really, or why I've been listening to them so much, but if I go through my pregnant downloaded-music folder, chances are I'll decide to play one of these: The Nails -- 88 Lines About 44 Women -- don't know what this is...a sex diary? a little black book set to music? but it's kind of neat, in a bopping 80's kind of way.... Something Corporate -- I Woke Up In A Car -- I think this might be about running away, or finding yourself somewhere you never expected to be, and loving it. But it could just literally be about waking up in a car. Crash Test Dummies -- Superman's Song -- I just think this song is so cute. Actually I think most of their songs are cute. Off-the-wall, but cute. Bif Naked -- Tango Shoes -- so very empowering...not that I'm intending to dance away from anyone anytime soon.... Ben Folds -- Not The Same -- when your friends change in ways you can't understand, or go places you can't follow. Random bellydance/tabla music -- something about this music is really addictive, I'd brave all the Ilana Salazars (my current, crazy-perfectionist, self-important bellydance instructor) of the world just to hear it. Dire Straits -- Romeo and Juliet -- more people should know all the words to this song and it should be sung along to on long bus trips. It's kind of that type of song. Evanescence -- My Immortal -- oh god, I shouldn't even like this song, I should shun it with all my strength, but there's something really, really pretty about it in all its melodramatic angst. Sarah McLachlan -- Sweet Surrender -- I never got what the big deal was about this song, or why it was so popular back when it was, but I like it tons now. Garbage -- #1 Crush -- I just love the sexy lead-in I think... Rufus Wainwright -- Hallelujah -- such a pretty song with such bittersweet lyrics -- it's quite the combination. Moxy Fruvous -- Green Eggs And Ham -- this is a cool, smooth, distinctly Canadian take on a children's classic... Dashboard Confessional -- A Plain Morning -- ahh, the mellow songs about being separated from loved ones... Norah Jones -- Shoot The Moon or Come Away With Me -- I downloaded her stuff purely for background music at the cocktail party, and now I find myself really, really liking it. Go figure. Trio -- Da Da Da -- There's so much I don't get about the 80's. Why not add one more thing? Madonna -- Die Another Day -- they have, like, exactly 1 mix CD that they play in our student centre cafeteria, and this happens to be on it. Somehow I have developed a residual fondness for it.... Cowboy Junkies -- Sweet Jane -- there's absolutely nothing to this song, and yet I love it so much...don't ask me... So there you go. I'm sure there's a personality analysis in there somewhere. For my part, I'm off to *sigh* do orgo. ~SQ posted by susan | 11:53 PM |
